Day 1. Seattle, Washington – Tour Begins
Your scenic tour through the Pacific Northwest featuring the breathtaking San Juan Islands and Victoria, B.C. opens in Seattle, one of America’s most picturesque cities. Get to know your fellow travellers at tonight’s welcome dinner.

Day 2. Seattle

Embark on a sightseeing tour of the “Emerald City,” including the colourful restored waterfront area, historic Pioneer Square, and lively Pike Place Market, a famous fish and vegetable market dotted with restaurants and shops. The afternoon is yours to explore all that Seattle has to offer.

Day 3. Seattle – Cruising the San Juan Islands – Friday Harbour

Board your chartered boat to begin a truly incredible adventure to the San Juan Islands. Set sail to this archipelago consisting of 172 pristine islands. Relax in comfort inside or venture out on deck to take advantage of the endless photo opportunities. Make a stop at the stunning horseshoe-shaped Sucia Island State Park, a world-renowned boating destination. Sit back and take in the tranquillity as you enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Day 4. Friday Harbour – Victoria, B.C.

This morning set out under way and head north, passing the famous Roche Harbor on your way to witness Orca whales in their natural habitat. This region is a famous gathering place for these majestic creatures. Along the way, watch for river otters, sea lions and the common minke whales that also call this area home. Then, you are in for a treat – savour a cracked Dungeness crab lunch served right on board! Later, arrive in Victoria, home to some of Canada’s most exhilarating scenery. You’ll be surrounded by stunning panoramas of oceans, mountains and the city’s impressive gardens that are famous the world over.

Day 5. Victoria

Begin your day by exploring Butchart Gardens, the most popular attraction in Victoria. Immerse yourself in the 55 acres of the most diverse gardens in the world and see first-hand why they were hailed by National Geographic as one of the “top ten magnificent gardens” in the world. Next, discover the history of Victoria on your sightseeing tour of the city. Learn about its heritage, architecture and colourful gardens while taking in its peaceful atmosphere.

Day 6. Victoria – Port Angeles, Washington

Relax during your leisurely morning in Victoria or explore the city on your own. Then, board the MV Coho ferry for a 90-minute ride to Port Angeles, Washington. This charming art town is steeped in history and is considered to be the “authentic Northwest.” Perched on the shoreline in the shadows of the magnificent Mount Baker and the sprawling Olympic National Park, the views will take your breath away.

Day 7. Port Angeles

Join a local naturalist and guide to explore Olympic National Park. Learn about its three distinct ecosystems – rugged glacier-capped mountains, wild Pacific coast, and magnificent old-growth temperate rain forest. Take a leisurely hike with your guide through the enchanted Hoh Rain Forest, one of the few and most remarkable temperate rain forests in the United States. Pause along the way to enjoy a picnic lunch while surrounded by nature. Continue on to Hurricane Ridge to take in the panoramas of the mountains, the Pacific Ocean, Canada and a variety of wildlife. Day 1. St. John’s, Newfoundland – Tour Begins
Your journey opens in the colourful coastal city of St. John’s. The province’s capital city is a delightful blend of old-world charm and new-world elegance.

Day 2. St. John’s

Meet your fellow travellers this morning over breakfast. Then come to know North America’s oldest and easternmost city on a tour highlighting Signal Hill, Cape Spear lighthouse, Government House, and the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Continue on to tour the quaint fishing harbour of Quidi Vidi Village. Watch for puffins on a nature cruise to Witless Bay Ecological Reserve where millions of seabirds gather to nest. A local specialist joins us for a talk on the marine life in the region, especially the thousands of Humpback and Minke whales who make this their home. Tonight, savour your first Newfoundland dinner with lobster on the beach.

Day 3. St. John’s – Clarenville Area

Traverse the picturesque coastal drive that surrounds stunning Conception Bay. Make a stop in charming Brigus to spend some time in a traditional Newfoundland fishing village. Then it’s on to Cupids Cove Archaeological Site, the remnants of the oldest English settlement in Canada. Join an expert for a private tour at the Legacy Centre revealing life in the early 1600’s and get to know the culture during a musical performance. Then, get your hands dirty during a hands-on lesson in archaeology. This evening, prepare to have fun at a traditional Newfoundland gathering known as a “Jig’s dinner.”

Day 4. Clarenville – Cape Bonavista – Clarenville Area

In Trinity Village, relive days gone by during visits to historic buildings including the Georgian Lester-Garland House and the Green Family Forge, a living history blacksmith’s museum. At Cape Bonavista, pause at the lighthouse to take in the sweeping views – you may even spot an iceberg!

Day 5. Clarenville – Terra Nova National Park – Twillingate

Travel to breathtaking Terra Nova National Park where the forest meets the sea. Stand in awe of the park’s towering cliffs and tranquil bays. Spend some time exploring the Marine Atlantic Centre that features an interactive exhibit introducing you to the region’s marine life. Your day comes to a close at Longpoint Lighthouse, a location that affords prime viewing over Iceberg Alley.

Day 6. Twillingate – Gros Morne

Depart Twillingate and head to Boyd’s Cove. Explore the Beothuk Interpretation Centre where you’ll learn about Beothuk Village and its indigenous people who lived here over 300 years ago. Then enjoy a short walk along a trail that showcases the house pits, the only evidence left of these now extinct residents. Later, head to Gros Morne National Park for your two-night stay surrounded by nature.

Day 7. Gros Morne National Park

Today we visit the Discovery Centre and learn how natural forces have shaped the park’s landscape of dramatic vistas that are among the most spectacular in Atlantic Canada. A visit to Tableland Mountains is followed by further exploration of the park’s hidden fjords, stark mountains and highland tundra. From a boat, experience the fjords from a new perspective and watch for whales and eagles while listening to traditional Newfoundland music.

Day 8. Gros Morne – St. Anthony

Journey along the Viking Trail to L’Anse aux Meadows and travel back to A.D. 1000 when Vikings first made landfall. See how Newfoundlanders have adapted to this forbidding landscape and experience first-hand their unique solutions to living under extreme conditions. Later, a visit to a local Econo-museum reveals the famous local partridgeberry and bakeapple and how you can make them into jams, sauces and vinegars.

Day 9. St. Anthony – L’Anse Au Clair, Labrador

Board a ferry this morning and cross the Straits of Belle Isle to Labrador. Learn about the history and importance of whaling to this region as you pass by colourful fishing villages. Arrive in Red Bay and spend some time at Red Bay National Historic Site. This UNESCO World Heritage site recounts the traditions of Basque whalers in the 16th century. Then it’s off to Point Amour Lighthouse to watch for icebergs; visit a 4,200-year-old gravesite; and see the remains of a scuttled British war ship.

Day 10. L’Anse Au Clair – Cornerbrook, Newfoundland

A morning ferry ride takes you back to Newfoundland. Today’s journey brings you along the roads that James Cook took back in 1770. Sit back and take in the spectacular scenery that unfolds along the way. Be sure to have your camera ready!

Day 11. Cornerbrook

Visit a local mineral and stone specialist for a discussion on Labradorite, a colourful stone that is claimed to have mystical powers. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore on your own. Day 2. Anchorage – Whittier – Anchorage

Today we journey to Whittier. Upon arrival, embark on a cruise of Prince William Sound and Blackstone Bay to view glaciers and watch for wildlife. Enjoy lunch on board during this fully narrated scenic adventure. This evening, join your fellow travellers for a welcome dinner.

Day 3. Anchorage – Tok

Today’s drive to the small town of Tok is filled with incredible landscapes. We make our way along Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, the largest in all of the United States. Overnight in Tok, an old stopover for travellers coming from or heading to Canada.

Day 4. Tok – Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada

A picturesque day awaits as we travel to Whitehorse, the capital of Canada’s Yukon. The city was named after the local river rapids’ resemblance to the mane of a white horse. For part of the day we’ll be riding amid Kluane National Park, the “crown jewel” of the Canadian national parks system.

Day 5. Whitehorse – Skagway – Whitehorse

Gold! Travel back to a time when dreams of a big payday were on everyone’s mind. Ride to Skagway, the gateway to the Klondike. Revel in tales of the gold rush and local characters like Soapy Smith. Time is available to independently explore this Alaskan coastal community, filled with quaint shops and plenty of history.

Day 6. Whitehorse – Carmacks – Dawson City

Today’s final destination is Dawson City. En route, we’ll stop in the village of Carmacks to see the famous Five Finger Rapids mentioned in Jack London’s novel, The Call of The Wild. Carmacks is named after George Carmack, the man who struck gold in 1896, sparking the frenzy that turned Dawson City into the centre of the Klondike Gold Rush. Within a few years, the population grew from nearly zero to 40,000. After the gold rush, the population plummeted…leaving behind a ghost town.

Day 7. Dawson City

With such a compelling history, Dawson City offers up a fascinating city tour that includes the Bonanza Creek, site of the first gold strike. We’ll make a photo stop at the last stern-wheeler, the SS Keno, which once transported silver, zinc and lead. Enjoy some leisure time this afternoon to further explore this rustic gold rush town.

Day 8. Dawson City – Chicken, Alaska – Fairbanks

An exciting day awaits as you ride along the Top of the World Highway. Discover why it rivals all other scenic roads. Stop in Chicken, one of the last surviving gold rush towns of Alaska. Share a laugh in this fun little community that retains its frontier spirit. Your home for the next two nights is Fairbanks, a city known as a wonderful place to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Dive into life here and enjoy a local salmon bake featuring delicious all-you-can-eat Alaskan salmon.

Day 9. Fairbanks

This morning enjoy a city tour of Fairbanks that includes a stop at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Your afternoon features a scenic sternwheeler cruise on the Chena River. This three-hour journey takes you into the heart of Alaska and introduces you to a family who has made the rivers of Alaska a way of life. See a floatplane take off alongside the boat; then visit the kennels of an Iditarod winner and see the champion sled dogs in action.

Day 1. Vancouver, British Columbia – Tour Begins
Join us as we explore the beautiful resorts and spectacular scenery of the Canadian Rockies.

Day 2. Vancouver – Victoria

This morning, experience the city of Vancouver with a sightseeing tour. Visit Chinatown, one of North America’s largest; the vibrant waterfront area; and Gastown, Vancouver’s turn-of-the-century pedestrian mall and home of the world-famous steam-powered clock. Next, explore Stanley Park before boarding a ferry to Vancouver Island. Upon arrival enjoy a visit to Chemanius, a little town nestled between the mountains and the ocean, to see first-hand its world-famous giant wall murals. Later, arrive in the “City of Gardens,” Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, to begin your two-night stay in the breathtaking Fairmont Empress Hotel on the Inner Harbour. This evening, enjoy dinner overlooking the water.

Day 3. Victoria

Experience breakfast at Butchart Gardens in the original residence of the Butchart family. Following your meal, stroll through the 55-acre display of colourful gardens before returning to Victoria for a sightseeing tour of this historic city. The remainder of your day is at leisure to relax, shop or explore independently.

Day 4. Victoria – Kelowna

This morning board a BC Ferry for a spectacular cruise through the Gulf Islands with their dramatic coastlines. Once back on the mainland, travel through the lush landscape of British Columbia to the city of Kelowna in the rich and fertile Okanagan Valley.

Day 5. Kelowna

Today you’ll discover the wealth and bounty of the Okanagan Valley. Begin with a visit to a family-owned goat cheese farm. Your tour of the farm includes the ageing cellar and a tasting of a variety of their delicious products. Later, embark on a tour of Summerhill Pyramid Winery to learn their unique organic techniques. Enjoy lunch along with tastings of their popular wines while taking in the beautiful ambience.

Day 6. Kelowna – Lake Louise, Alberta

Depart the Okanagan Valley along the shores of Lake Okanagan and then travel along the upper Columbia River. Journey through Yoho National Park, named by the Cree (using their expression for “awe”). Continue to spectacular Lake Louise, showcasing incredible views of its emerald waters and the imposing Victoria Glacier. Overnight at the incomparable Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. This evening it’s Diner’s Choice…your dinner is included and you’ll choose the perfect spot from a “menu” of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise’s great restaurants.

Day 7. Icefields Parkway – Choice of Glacier Experience or Glacier Skywalk

This morning experience breakfast at the spectacular Lake Louise Gondola. Then, board the gondola* and ascend to the top of Whitehorn Mountain in just fourteen minutes. From a height of 6,850 feet above sea level, savour spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Keep an eye out for the grizzly bears who call this mountain home! Set out on a journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway: behold lovely waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped mountain ranges. Stop at the Columbia Icefield and choose a fun ride** across this mass of glacial ice which is over 1,000 feet thick – the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle; or, take a walk on the Glacier Skywalk to experience the breathtaking views of the Sunwapta Valley and witness the dramatic landscape from the glass-floored platform.

Day 8. Lake Louise – Banff

Depart Lake Louise and journey to Banff. Embark upon a scenic drive to view Moraine Lake and the incredible Valley of the Ten Peaks from which you will view the unusual “saw-toothed” Ten Peaks. Next, explore the Hoodoos – known as the “Land of the Sleeping Giants” – and powerful Bow Falls. Later, enjoy a visit to a local ammolite specialist where you will learn about this rare gemstone that is found only in Alberta. Your home this evening is the magnificent Fairmont Banff Springs, known as the “Castle in the Rockies.”

Day 9. Banff

The day is yours for independent exploration. Take a walk through Banff’s delightful downtown, browse through the shops and museums, or just take in the natural beauty of the area. Join your fellow travellers this evening at a farewell dinner where you will toast the end of a wonderful trip.

Day 1. Halifax, Nova Scotia – Tour Begins

Day 2. Halifax – Peggy’s Cove – Halifax

This morning meet your fellow guests over breakfast with your Tour Manager. Explore Halifax’s charming downtown on a tour highlighting the waterfront, Public Gardens, Spring Garden Road and the famous Citadel. Later, visit one of the most picturesque spots in all of Canada – beautiful Peggy’s Cove. Its historic lighthouse overlooking the Atlantic Ocean provides one of the most memorable views you will ever see. This evening, enjoy dinner along the waterfront.

Day 3. Halifax – Cape Breton Island – Baddeck

En route to Cape Breton, enjoy a visit to the Millbrook Cultural & Heritage Centre to learn about the Mi’kmaq heritage and Glooscap legends; see artifacts including intricate quill and bead work; and learn some words from the Mi’kmaq language. Continue your journey along the Canso Causeway to stunning Cape Breton Island. Set out on a scenic drive by the pristine shores of Bras d’Or Lakes, Canada’s only inland sea. Upon arrival in Baddeck, explore the amazing variety of inventions on display at the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. This evening, savour a taste of Cape Breton with dinner featuring the local flavours and musical entertainment of this region. Later, we’ve arranged an old-fashioned bonfire (weather permitting) with music. It’s the perfect chance to dance the night away under the stars.

Day 4. Cabot Trail

Set off to explore the Cabot Trail and fall in love with its rugged terrain and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the famed St. Peter’s Church in Cheticamp. Enjoy a picnic lunch in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Even more beauty awaits as we pause at fishing communities along the coast, including lovely Neil’s Harbour. Next, stop at the Gaelic College. Watch North America’s first Gaelic language short film: Faire Chaluim MhicLeoid – the Wake of Calum MacLeod. Afterwards, learn how the Great Kilt was made during a brief kilt-making demonstration. Learn a few handy Gaelic phrases and join in the fun of a milling frolic…practice a Gaelic song while sitting around a table and beating a large loop of woollen cloth in rhythm.

Day 5. Baddeck – Prince Edward Island

This morning we take a short ferry ride to Prince Edward Island, the “Land Cradled on the Waves.” Upon arrival, venture to charming seaside Charlottetown for a tour along its narrow streets lined with quaint homes and hidden treasures. Tonight, enjoy a dinner showcasing the flavours of the island in a culinary masterpiece using fresh local products. Of course, PEI blue mussels will be among the items you will be able to taste!

Day 6. Prince Edward Island

Today you will come to know the rolling landscapes of Prince Edward Island, the backdrop of the acclaimed novel, Anne of Green Gables. Visit North Rustico’s celebrated wharf dotted with fishing boats and lobster traps. Arrive in delightful Cavendish and view Prince Edward Island National Park’s picturesque beaches. Visit the Anne of Green Gables House before returning to Charlottetown with time to explore this fascinating city.

Day 7. Prince Edward Island – Saint John, New Brunswick

This morning, leave Prince Edward Island behind as you cross the stately Confederation Bridge. Travel along the sea-sprayed shoreline to the amazing Hopewell Rocks. A New Brunswick icon, these flowerpot-shaped rocks carved by the Fundy tides seem to rise four stories high at low tide only to disappear into tiny islands when the tide is high*. Savour a traditional Maritimes lobster feast as you look out upon Daniels Flats. An expert teaches you how to crack and eat lobster like a local. Continue your journey through New Brunswick to the city of Saint John where you’ll enjoy a two-night stay in the bustling waterfront area.

Day 8. Saint John

Explore the awe-inspiring Fundy Trail, marvelling at the spectacular views of the famous tides. You can even sample Fundy seaweed! This afternoon enjoy an exclusive salmon barbeque complete with fiddleheads. Before returning to the city, view some of St. Martin’s famous covered bridges. The evening is at leisure in the city of Saint John.

Day 9. Saint John – Western Shore, Nova Scotia

Experience local life at the celebrated Saint John City Market** as it comes alive with the aroma of fresh food. You may shop for Maritimes crafts and witness local artists at work. Later, board a ferry bound for Digby, Nova Scotia. Waterfront accommodation await in charming Western Shore. Upon arrival you may wish to stroll along the beach with views of Oak Island, home of a pirate’s treasure still waiting to be found.

Day 10. Western Shore – Lunenburg – Western Shore

Experience the small fishing village of Mahone Bay before stopping at Amos Pewter to learn about the intricate artistry that goes into each piece. Next, travel along the beautiful Lighthouse Route towards Lunenburg. Explore this fishing village on a walking tour and discover how early settlers turned to the sea for survival. Enjoy a visit to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic where you may choose to try its marvellous touch tank filled with local species. A local fisherman will teach you all about scallops and how to shuck them! Complete your day along the waterfront at a spectacular farewell dinner with your fellow travellers and toast the end of a marvellous trip.
