Day 1. Charleston, South Carolina – Tour Begins
Revel in the hospitality and rich history of America’s South on this scenic holiday tour featuring the best of South Carolina and Georgia. Take some time today to explore the charming City Market, a must for holiday shoppers and the curious alike.

Day 2. Charleston

See for yourself why Charleston has been deemed the “charm spot of the south.” Embark on a guided tour of the city highlighting the many historic homes and restored buildings adorned with outstanding 18th-century Christmas decorations. Pause at the battery overlooking Fort Sumter where, on April 12, 1861, the first shots of the Civil War were fired. Following your tour, go beyond the moss draped oaks and step back in time to experience southern plantation living during the holiday season at stately Boone Hall. This is one of America’s oldest working plantations and you will be able to view the remarkably preserved original slave cabins, unusual in their brick construction. Experience the gracious hospitality you can only find down south when you dine at a fine local restaurant before visiting James Island County Park where over 500,000 lights provide you with an enchanting 3-mile driving tour. Visit Santa’s Village where you will have a chance to shop or perhaps even roast marshmallows by an open fire.

Day 3. Charleston – Savannah, Georgia

Enjoy time at leisure this morning to continue exploring Charleston independently. Later, travel south along the coast through South Carolina’s Low Country. Rich in scenic beauty, this is one of those unique cultural corners of the United States. Later, arrive in historic Savannah, home of the largest National Historic Landmark District in the United States. This evening, enjoy dinner at a popular local restaurant on famous River Street. Your night also includes a cooking demonstration that highlights specialities such as shrimp and grits.

Day 4. Savannah – Jekyll Island

Begin the day with a guided tour of Savannah’s sprawling Historic District. Stroll along the cobblestone-paved Factors Walk and River Street, where old cotton warehouses have been converted into trendy shops, taverns and restaurants, all decorated in holiday themes. Complete your tour with a visit to the Andrew Low Home and Gardens. Learn about the driving force behind the Girl Scouts and its founder, Juliette Low. Enjoy the home’s beautiful formal gardens and carriage house, the first national headquarters of the Girl Scouts. Travel south along the unspoiled coast of Georgia, home of the Golden Isles, where you see vast marshlands, winding rivers and beautiful beaches. This afternoon you arrive at the exclusive Jekyll Island Club Hotel, grandly situated in the midst of the fabled Historic District.

Day 5. Ballachulish – Glasgow

This morning we are treated to a tour of the Jekyll Island Historic Landmark District — one of the nation’s largest restoration projects. Here you will have a chance to explore the 240-acre river edge and see grand “cottages” once belonging to such notables as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts and J.P. Morgan. Enjoy time at leisure on the island to immerse yourself in its historic past. This afternoon, find yourself in the holiday spirit as you enjoy Christmas carolling and some afternoon refreshments. Then, experience the Jekyll Island Club with a guided tour of this historic hotel, beautifully decorated for the season. Later, join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner at the Jekyll Island Club.
