Day 1. Jackson Hole, Wyoming – Tour Begins
Welcome to Jackson Hole, America’s most famous cowboy town. Find yourself amid its rare blend of elegance and western charm. Get your first taste of the Old West at your welcome dinner* where your ride in a covered wagon takes you past the Cache Creek Canyon for a night of western hospitality at a chuck wagon dinner with entertainment.

Day 2. Jackson Hole

This morning the choice is yours. Enjoy either a relaxing wildlife float trip or an exciting white water rafting adventure! Both paths take you along the Snake River and offer up dramatic views of a grand landscape complete with a picnic lunch. The rest of the afternoon is yours to experience all that Jackson Hole has to offer.

Day 3. Jackson Hole – Grand Tetons – Yellowstone

Wind through Grand Teton National Park, home to the youngest peaks in the Rockies. Keep your camera ready. There are plenty of opportunities to take photos. Next, visit incomparable Yellowstone National Park, the first and oldest national park in the world. Yellowstone, a true symbol of the west, stretches across 3,470 square miles and touches three western states. Famous for its geysers, hot springs and incredible wildlife – including free-ranging herds of buffalo – Yellowstone lives up to its reputation. A park guide joins your group to discuss the past, present and future of the park as you observe the unspoiled natural splendour. Of course, no visit to Yellowstone would be complete without seeing its most famous attraction: Old Faithful. Watch in amazement as the geyser erupts, sending a fountain of steam more than 90 feet in the air!

Day 4. Yellowstone – Cody – Sheridan

Begin your day with a journey along Lake Yellowstone and over Sylvan Pass. From the mountains to the prairies, the scenery is simply astounding. Pass through Cody and visit the Buffalo Bill Centre of the West – a tribute to one of the most colourful figures of the Old West. Before turning in for the night in Sheridan, make your way through the incredible Bighorn Mountains and cross through the territory of the Great Sioux Nation.

Day 5. Sheridan – Deadwood – Rapid City, South Dakota

En route to Rapid City, stop in Deadwood, a rowdy, rambling western town that has been named a National Historic Landmark. Recreations of turn-of-the-century street lamps light the way through the restored architecture. A local guide introduces you to the history of the city, including a visit to Mount Moriah Cemetery, final resting place of Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane and other figures from the Wild West. You’ll also make a stop at Kevin Costner’s Tatanka: “Story of the Bison.” This interpretive centre features large, awe-inspiring sculptures depicting the relationship of bison and the Lakota Native Americans. Enjoy some time to ramble through Deadwood where gold, gambling and gunpowder were once the order of the day. Later, return to Rapid City to enjoy leisure time for independent exploration.

Day 6. Rapid City – Crazy Horse – Keystone – Rapid City

Today, learn more about this diverse region. Jump into the world of Black Hills gold on a tour through Riddle’s Black Hills Gold and Diamond Factory. See skilled artisans hand craft South Dakota’s official state jewellery. Then it is on to Custer State Park where you’ll hop on an off-road vehicle to travel deep into the park. A herd of approximately 1,300 free roaming buffalo (or bison) grace the woods of Custer along with pronghorn antelope and elk. Your guide will fill you in on the history and fun facts about the park’s wildlife. Next, prepare to be amazed by the Crazy Horse Memorial, the world’s largest mountain sculpture still in progress. The memorial includes the Indian Museum of North America, Native American Cultural Centre, the sculptor’s studio, an orientation centre and theatres. Many Native American artists and craftspeople practice their art at the memorial and are on hand to discuss the influence their culture has on their work. Make a stop in the Old West town of Keystone to have dinner on your own before stopping to see the illumination of Mt. Rushmore, one of the true icons of the West, during a sound and light show.

Day 7. Rapid City – Badlands – Wall – Rapid City

Today you visit rugged Badlands National Park. Upon arrival at the visitor centre, view its informative exhibits and displays and watch a film that introduces you to the area. Follow the Badlands Loop Road, a wonder of rock formations and vibrant colours caused by mineral deposits. Next, enjoy a stop at Wall Drug, a classic store from 1936, where there is time for lunch and browsing. This evening, a Lakota Native American will join you before your farewell dinner to discuss his dedication to his community and the Native American way of life, past and present.

Day 2. Atlanta – Nashville, Tennessee

Journey to the “Music Capital of the World” – Nashville. En route, stop in the charming city of Chattanooga. Enjoy free time for lunch and exploration before continuing on to Nashville for a relaxing three night stay. Tonight, get to know your fellow travellers at your welcome dinner at the famous Wildhorse Saloon, home of a 3,300 square foot dance floor that is used every night of the week by dancers and revellers.

Day 3. Nashville

Today, get acquainted with America’s capital of country music. Begin by discovering the famous Old Ryman Auditorium*; then take in Broadway and 2nd Avenue, home to Nashville’s music bars. Head to Music Row and see the recording studios and publishing houses of the music industry. Continue on to the Parthenon, a replica of the original in Greece. Enjoy some free time before an evening visit to the world’s longest running radio show, the Grand Ole Opry. It has been delighting audiences for more than 85 years! This is a chance to watch the show being performed as it’s broadcast live on both radio and television. After the show, get a behind-the-scenes look at the music during a backstage tour of the Opry** – discover the history and learn about the operation of the show during a talk with the Grand Ole Opry staff.

Day 4. Nashville

Take a fascinating journey through the history of country music. Experience the magic, the stories, and the music on a guided tour through the world-famous RCA Studio B in the heart of Music Row. Although Elvis lived in Memphis, many of his recordings were made here in Nashville at this studio. Have the chance to record your own hit! Next, experience music’s past and present at the state-of-the-art Country Music Hall of Fame, the largest museum of popular music in the world. Explore its interactive exhibits and tear-stained lyric sheets, an absolute must for all music fans. Learn about the Hatch Show Print, the original printer of the concert flyer for famous country musicians and have the opportunity to see how they are still printed today.

Day 5. Nashville – Memphis
Travel to Memphis, the birthplace of the Blues, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Soul. Get to know the city on a one-of-a-kind tour. Local musicians board the coach and tell the story of Memphis’ musical heritage and history as you view the city’s many highlights. You may even be tempted to sing along! Tonight, enjoy dinner at a popular local barbecue to savour the local flavour. Later, with some leisure time, you may immerse yourself in the city’s energetic music scene on world-famous Beale Street. Stroll along this world-famous street’s lively and historic entertainment district, alive with the buzz of live music, throngs of music lovers and the glow of city lights.

Day 6. Memphis

Pay homage to the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” with a pilgrimage to Graceland. Step inside Elvis’ former home for a personal look into the man behind the legend. The tour includes admission to all of Graceland’s extravagant attractions – including the mansion and the automobile museum. The remainder of the day is yours to relax or explore Memphis on your own.

Day 7. Memphis – Jackson, Mississippi – Natchez

We leave Memphis today for the state of Mississippi. Our first visit is Jackson, the state capital. Enjoy free time for lunch before heading to the traditional southern town of Natchez, which feels like it has stopped in time. This evening, get a taste of historic plantation life when you dine at a local, privately-owned antebellum plantation home.

Day 8. Natchez

Natchez was largely spared from the destruction of the Civil War, so it’s a fantastic example of how life was in the pre-Civil War Deep South. We’ll see some of the town’s most beautiful historic buildings, including elegant southern mansions, churches and public buildings. The rest of the day is free for you to wander around this charming town.

Day 9. Natchez – Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Lafayette

This morning travel to Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana. Set out on a guided tour of the Louisiana State Capitol Building and learn about the state’s most influential political figure, Governor Huey Long. Hear the stories and legends from the time of his governorship and witness the location of his untimely assassination at the State House. Continue on to Lafayette, the heart of Cajun Country. Visit Martin Accordions, a family-owned accordion shop. Learn about this intricate craft and listen as the Martin-family band entertains you with music and stories.

Day 10. Cajun Country

Today, immerse yourself in the vibrant Cajun culture. Begin at the Acadian Cultural Centre at Jean Lafitte National Park for an introduction to the history and culture of Cajun Country. Next, visit Vermilionville, a 23-acre living history museum and folk life park showcasing the Cajun and Creole heritages. Later, cruise along the eerie bayous and through the Atchafalaya Basin — no trip to Cajun Country would be complete without seeing the swamp!

Day 11. Lafayette – New Orleans

Day 12. French Quarter

Today, take a walking tour of the French Quarter. The steamy streets of New Orleans surround you with elegant villas with balconies of delicate iron lace. Stroll past the majestic St. Louis Cathedral, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Continue on to the bustling French Marketplace and explore Pirates Alley, the Cabildo, the Presbytere and the Pontalba. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to independently discover the “Big Easy.”

Day 13. New Orleans

This morning, enjoy a panoramic tour of New Orleans with a local guide. Begin along historic Esplanade Avenue. See St. Louis Cemetery #3, which opened in 1854 and holds some of the most elaborate crypts found in the city’s cemeteries. Then, relax during a drive along the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain. This romantic road eventually leads to St. Charles Avenue, whisking you past gorgeous mansions as well as Tulane and Loyola, two world-famous universities. Return to the French Quarter this afternoon and have time at leisure. Tonight, enjoy an elegant dinner at the Court of Two Sisters, one of New Orleans’ most renowned restaurants.

Day 3. Scottsdale – Sedona – Grand Canyony

Sit back and enjoy the drive from Scottsdale to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Watch as the diverse terrain reveals itself at every turn. Day 7. Anaheim – Los Angeles – Anaheim

Get acquainted with Los Angeles on a wonderful tour led by a local expert. Make stops at the iconic walk of fame in Hollywood; the TLC (formerly Grauman’s) Chinese Theatre; and the Kodak Theatre, where the Oscars are held. Spend time browsing at The Farmer’s Market. Have time on your own to sample the farm fresh fare and do some shopping. Keep your eyes open for movie stars as they are frequently spotted milling about. Day 8. Los Angeles – Santa Barbara

A very short drive takes you to Santa Barbara, nicknamed “The American Riviera.” Boasting a spectacular coastline, Santa Barbara is home to many of the rich and famous. You will hear stories about Santa Barbara’s history and the stars that reside here as you embark on a lovely day filled with local sightseeing.

Day 9. Santa Barbara – San Simeon – Monterey

Discover the dramatic California scenery as you head up the Big Sur coastline, flanked by the Santa Lucia Mountains and Pacific Ocean…it will surely take your breath away. This afternoon, arrive in San Simeon and visit Hearst Castle, built by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. Tour the estate which Hearst simply called “the ranch” and explore some of its 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools and walkways. Later today, arrive in Monterey, famous for its breathtaking setting.

Day 10. Monterey

Day 11. Monterey – Yosemite – San Francisco

Journey to one of the oldest and most spectacular national parks in the United States, Yosemite. Established as a national park in 1864 by Abraham Lincoln, the park is famous for incredible granite cliffs and is now visited by almost 4 million people per year. Explore the park on a tram ride that takes you along the floor of Yosemite. Day 2. New York City

Meet your fellow travellers this morning for a welcome breakfast at the famous Ellen’s Stardust Diner. Then, a local guide leads you on a fascinating tour of the “Big Apple.” We’ll see Greenwich Village, the Wall Street district, Little Italy, Chinatown, the Empire State Building, Central Park, Chelsea Market and other time-honoured landmarks. Visit St. Paul’s Chapel in lower Manhattan, a place where George Washington once worshipped, and where recovery workers came for rest and care during their time at the World Trade Centre site. This afternoon, discover “the city that never sleeps” at your own pace.

Day 3. New York City – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Lancaster

This morning the choice is yours! Choose from a menu of New York’s diners for breakfast. Travel to Philadelphia and embark on a tour of “the Birthplace of a New Nation” which highlights the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Independence Hall is rich in heritage as the location of both the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the drafting of the Constitution. Continue on to the Amish Country of Lancaster, the second-largest Amish community in America. Tonight, enjoy a cooking demonstration on making a local favourite – apple dumplings – before having dinner.

Day 4. Lancaster

Visit Wheatland,* the Federalist home of James Buchanan, the 15th U.S. President. Sample the true taste of Amish Country with a stop at the Kitchen Kettle Complex where small batches of jams, jellies and relishes are handcrafted daily. Next, a local guide introduces you to the fascinating history and traditions of the Amish people during a tour of their farmlands. As you learn more about their self-sufficiency and peaceful lifestyle, you will understand how their “life apart” is an expression of their religious faith and dedication. Day 5. Lancaster – Gettysburg – Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

Journey to Gettysburg, site of the Union victory that marked a turning point in the Civil War. A guided tour of the site illuminates those three historic days in 1863 and the decisive battle that changed the course of American history forever. Travel to Shenandoah National Park via the famous Skyline Drive, along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where scenic expanses of Shenandoah Valley wilderness extend in all directions. Day 6. Shenandoah Valley – Charlottesville – Williamsburg

Jefferson was not only the third U.S. President and author of the Declaration of Independence, but he was also an accomplished inventor and true “Renaissance man.” This afternoon, arrive in the historic town of Williamsburg. Day 7. Colonial Williamsburg

Begin the day by viewing “Story of a Patriot,” a short film that introduces you to Colonial Williamsburg, one of the largest and best living history museums in the world. Costumed re-enactors populate the streets and buildings, bringing the customs and sentiments of 1770 to life. Tour Governor’s Palace and Gardens before enjoying time to independently wander the cobblestone streets and explore some of the 88 historic buildings.

Day 8. Williamsburg – Washington, D.C.

Day 9. Washington, D.C.

This morning, a guided tour of America’s capital affords wonderful views of the Capitol building, the White House, monuments and museums. Your first stop will be the White House Visitor Centre where you will gain insight into the many transitions this historic residence has undergone. Continue your tour with a stop at the moving World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Your tour ends with a photo stop at the U.S. Capitol building. This afternoon, visit Arlington National Cemetery to view the Tomb of the Unknowns and the Kennedy grave sites. Toast the end of a wonderful trip this evening at a farewell dinner.
